Wildlife

On January 18th an ermine was hanging out in the area of the van.  It drove Bo NUTS.  At first I thought it was cute but then I realized that this little thing can wipe out an entire flock of chickens.  Every time it would look like it was coming out I would let Bo out.  Eventually it took off across the road and I haven't seen it since.

Then February 24th when I took Bo out I noticed some tracks.  They looked like a large cat.  I am guessing bobcat?  I have seen larger than normal hairballs and once I heard something that sounded like a large cat coughing up a hairball.  Oh now that I think about it, I even saw a bobcat a couple hundred feet down the road from our house.
The coin is a quarter.

Video Blog

January 9, 2011 Noah spent the day, "dab, dab, dabbing."  I think you can hear it here over Jacob's bedtime procrastination tactics.

Outdated Milestone

This is a video taken of Noah sitting up on Christmas day.  This is when he really started sitting strongly.  Before that he could sit if I stayed right there because he would fall over quickly.

It seems funny to post this now since so much has happened since then!  Now Noah is so close to crawling and completely mobile.  He rolls, scoots drags, pulls up to standing (I may as well post that video too!) and can go from laying down to sitting up.  My boy is growing fast!
02/03/11 2nd time pulling himself to standing.  The first time I was not expecting it at all so I didn't have the camera right there.  I don't think the 30 seconds between the two really make a big difference.

Deep Thoughts

When I was a teenager I would sometimes be picked on for random thoughts.  Though I almost never watched it Saturday Night Live did a sketch that I think was called Jack Handy's Deep Thoughts and that was what kids would refer to when I would have a "deep thought."

I suppose at the time I felt picked on and I hated it. But now as an adult with greater perspective, they were completely right.

So I now give you a "Lauren Cornelius Deep Thought" in photo form.
This summer we grew A LOT of basil so I made a bunch of pesto and froze it.  It expanded and pressed into the lid and left an impression .  I find it pleasing for some reason.  Remember we are going random here...

Multi Purpose

Maybe this kind of thing is only fun for me, but hey it's my blog so what the heck!

My friend gave me a scarf for Christmas that had pockets on the ends. It is soft and warm and a really good idea.  Sophie has adopted it and discovered that the pockets work well as a hat and then you can still use the rest of the scarf the way it was intended.
A self portrait in said scarf.

Christmas

Since I am so behind I am going to make one post of everything Christmas related so that I can move on and maybe someday actually post current information.

This is an important picture.  We avoided a fight by looking at last years picture to find out who's turn it was this year.
This year, thank to the motivation and guidance of a friend, I made Christmas jammies for each of the kids.  I really enjoyed it and hope to do it again next year.

Projects

A selection of some of the projects that have happened around here.  For some reason I don't have anything for Ben and Aaron.
A project Sophie did at school.  The leaves in the corner are a tent.  There is a burdock tree, rock logs and a fire with a spit.
My favorite part is the flower she used for a fire so here's a close up.
I am not exactly sure what this is, but Jacob built it with his hammer.
Three different views of some buttons Jacob was playing with.  I found it very appealing.

The scarf I made my sister Jennifer for our family gift exchange in 2009 but started making in November 2010.

Noah Unload

11/25/10 A scrawny Noah gets his first ( and last ) brother bath.  I include two photos because this one shows how turbulent the water was.

12/07/10 Noah hanging out in the Bumbo (Thanks Molly!)  He outgrew it fast because he like to move so much he kept twisting himself out of it.
12/11/10 A contented feeding.  Little did I know at the time that I wouldn't be nursing him in a months time.
12/13/10 First solid food, which he LOVED.  We kept up with it for about 4 days, but it upset his stomach so we stopped until he was 6 months old.

A carefully timed capture! 12/16/10

Noah fell asleep in the Ergo clutching his foot. 12/23/10

12/25/10 Noah masters sitting up.  He had been wobbly sitting up for about a week.

12/28/10 Arrrgghh Mateys!! Me eye's gooped up!
