Farm Life

We were in a parade for our local celebration, Old Home Day. Since we were in it I have no pictures of us in it, but after the parade was over to boys got to climb on a HUGE combine that was in the parade.

And someone suggested that I take a photo of the view of our garden from the back door. It is a very satisfying view.

It was an excellent garden year. Some of that was Aaron's hard work and diligence, and a lot of it I can thank no one else but the Lord.

It does make a little scared for what kind of winter we are going to have, because lets face it, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."

Sophie's Turn

One of the hardest things about a blog is making sure kids get equal coverage which is hard when one is in school and when at home is almost constantly reading a book.

I snapped this one of Sophie back in June. She got a sleeping mask for her birthday. It has actually been handy for the nights that we have to work in the dining room which is right off her bedroom.

Noah Unload

I have a bunch of Noah pictures so I am just going to unload them all at once so I don't have a backlog.

8/11/10 Noah has smiley days and solemn days. Here we catch him pondering the complexities of life.

Sweet baby feet 8/11/10

8/11/10 I am not sure if this is a Noah thing or a baby thing, but Noah often scrunches his toes like this

8/11/10 I am Noah's one true love at this point. It sure makes me feel special.

8/14/10 The brothers. Not super great photos, but needs to be recorded for posterity anyway.

8/14/10 Contemplating again.

8/14/10 One of Noah's very first smiles.

8/14/10 One of my absolutely most favorite pictures in the world.

8/15/10 Looking adorable in an outfit from Aunt April. Noah likes to sleep with his head wrapped like Aaron does which is why he is bundled like this.

8/17/10 Jacob very carefully set Noah up in the swing. He even generously shared his special pillow and softy.

He also took time to align his softy so that it covered each foot so that Noah wouldn't be cold.

There that is how Noah looked in the month of August. Now I need to get going on September!

Boy Play

Both boys sit just like Aaron when the play Legos. Nature or Nurture?

Jacob with his jet pack and gun. We just couldn't afford a real jet pack and gun for him.

Oh and I am not exactly sure why I have a dollar bill between my toes.

Dragonfly

Here's an oldie. It is a dragonfly from our annual Memorial Day Camping trip. The dragonflies were hatching all over the place. They were even landing on us. I learned something that weekend. Dragonflies are ugly, at least these were. They had nondescript brown bodies and those creepy bulbous eyes. The dragonfly's redeeming quality? Most definitely the wings.

Food

First off...After Noah was born a family in town made us dinner which included the most beautiful salad I had ever seen. It was also the most flavorful salad I have ever had.

It had nasturtiums, berries, dill, basil, candied nuts, pansies ans several different types of lettuce.

Second and totally unconnected, I made pesto to bring to a potluck and my basket holding it fell off the table and launched it everywhere.

Luckily most of it landed on the lid so I was able to save it.
And finally, it is not a good idea to pour sugar from a five gallon bucket into a smaller one.

Birds and Bees

Ben was watching a video from our house in Johnson and stated, "We lived there before Jacob was even invented."

To which I foolishly responded "Jacob was invented at that house."

This was puzzling to Ben so he asked, "What do you mean invented?"

Hoping repetition would get my foot out of my mouth, I responded, "That's where Jacob was invented."

"Oh you made him there?"

"Yup."

"Is he electric?"

This is one area I am glad Ben isn't making connections yet.
