Weed

Yesterday I spent a great deal of time weeding in the garden.  Noah is never far from my side so as I worked my way through the rows I explained what a weed was.  Noah very quickly learned to distinguish the cucumber sprouts from the jewel weed and witch grass.

Eventually Noah tired of the garden lesson and went onto the swings.  I would weed a row, give him 50 pushes, then head back to the garden.  At one point I reminded him that soon I would have to go back and weed in the garden, to which Noah replied,

"Yeah!  We don't want to grow weed.  Weed is not good.  I don't want to try weed."

I am hoping this lesson will stick in the recesses of his brain for future reference.
I recognize that this is not "weed" but I don't have access to a real photo of weed and I didn't want to peruse the internet for a pirated copy; life is just too short to spend time doing that.  However I hate posting without a picture so a lupin is the closest thing I had to "weed".

Helper

I am certain that once in your life you have had a "burning" desire to know what happens when you microwave american cheese for over a minute.  Thanks to my kitchen "helper" that desire has been fulfilled for me.

What you can't tell from this photo (or maybe you can?) is how cemented to the plate the cheese brick was. I basically had to use a chisel or ice pick to get it off.  We tried it, and honestly it tasted and felt kind of like a cheez-it.

p.s. In case you were wondering, I don't actually own an ice pick.  I just wanted to paint a picture, so to speak.

Common Knowledge

Noah spent the greater part of a day dressed as a chicken.  He wore it to the store, he wore it for lunch, and naturally he felt he should wear it to check for eggs in the chicken coop.  He was delighted to find that there were in fact eggs.  He brought them in, demonstrated how chickens "poop out their eggs" and when I reminded him to be careful because eggs are delicate, her responded,"I know Mommy.  I'm a chicken.  What'd you 'spect?"

Crazy Hair Day...With Style

What would school spirit week be without crazy hair day.  I wanted to trim the boys hair, but they begged me to wait until after crazy hair day.
He sure looks crazy enough to me!
I am not sure what happened to Ben's hair, but he was happy to oblige with the crazy aspect.
Sophie's crazy hair was her own invention.  Cinnamon Swirl Buns, ready to eat with silverware.
And in case you were wondering, the crazy apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.  Thanks Jen Bird for the awesome photo!
