Christmas

Since I am so behind I am going to make one post of everything Christmas related so that I can move on and maybe someday actually post current information.

This is an important picture.  We avoided a fight by looking at last years picture to find out who's turn it was this year.
This year, thank to the motivation and guidance of a friend, I made Christmas jammies for each of the kids.  I really enjoyed it and hope to do it again next year.

Projects

A selection of some of the projects that have happened around here.  For some reason I don't have anything for Ben and Aaron.
A project Sophie did at school.  The leaves in the corner are a tent.  There is a burdock tree, rock logs and a fire with a spit.
My favorite part is the flower she used for a fire so here's a close up.
I am not exactly sure what this is, but Jacob built it with his hammer.
Three different views of some buttons Jacob was playing with.  I found it very appealing.

The scarf I made my sister Jennifer for our family gift exchange in 2009 but started making in November 2010.

Noah Unload

11/25/10 A scrawny Noah gets his first ( and last ) brother bath.  I include two photos because this one shows how turbulent the water was.

12/07/10 Noah hanging out in the Bumbo (Thanks Molly!)  He outgrew it fast because he like to move so much he kept twisting himself out of it.
12/11/10 A contented feeding.  Little did I know at the time that I wouldn't be nursing him in a months time.
12/13/10 First solid food, which he LOVED.  We kept up with it for about 4 days, but it upset his stomach so we stopped until he was 6 months old.

A carefully timed capture! 12/16/10

Noah fell asleep in the Ergo clutching his foot. 12/23/10

12/25/10 Noah masters sitting up.  He had been wobbly sitting up for about a week.

12/28/10 Arrrgghh Mateys!! Me eye's gooped up!

Thanksgiving 1+2

In November we celebrated Thanksgiving.  The first was a small dinner here at our house with Aaron's brother Garrett.  Then Friday we left for Brattleboro where we had found a great rate at a hotel with a swimming pool.  My parents, brother and sister joined us there.  It was loads of fun.  Saturday morning we che3cked out and headed to my Aunt and Uncle's farm in Whitingham, VT.  We had a grand time there and headed home only to get stuck in a three hour traffic jam going over an ice covered mountain.  Ahhh the memories that were made that weekend!
The Table
The food.  It doesn't look like much here, but it took hours to prepare.
The gang!
At the farm.  Ben found the goggles and helmet somewhere (probably where he wasn't supposed to be)
Sophie bonding with a heifer (not pictured, but it was there)
Life's good when there are pitchforks and hay  to work with.

Helpers

One evening in November, the 11th to be specific, Noah was laying on the kitchen floor (this was back when I could still guarantee that he would stay in one place.)  I often used the handle on the oven door to hang toys as entertainment.  This evening his brothers decided to help.
It started simple
Then got complicated as the boys added just about every baby toy we own.  Still it's nice to have boys who like to help.

Eager to Help

On of the first manifestations of food allergies with Noah was constipation.  Once I counted up that he hadn't pooped for eleven days, I called the doctor.  Their recommendation was to give him a bottle of corn syrup mixed with water.

I think the kids were always resentful of my nursing Noah.  They wanted to be able to help, but when ever he cried I would whisk him away and nurse him.  So when those bottles of corn syrup and maple syrup came out they were each SO eager to have a turn.

Noah is so lucky to have such awesome siblings.  In the end it was not constipation but food sensitivities.  So far Noah seems bothered by dairy, eggs, almonds and peanuts.

Texture Quilt

About six years ago someone showed me a quilt they had made.  It was a quilt with fabric of all different textures.

So for about five years I collected scraps of textured fabric.  I made the quilt while I was pregnant with Noah.  Then toward the end it just got too hard to be on the floor working on it.  I set it aside and picked it back up again once Noah was not so brand spankin' new.  I finally finished it in the beginning of November.

Noah loves it, the kids love it, I even love to sit under it and feel the different textures.

Hair Cut

It has now been so long since I got my hair cut that it needs to be cut again, but oh well.  Here is my "new" hair cut.
Look at the green grass out the window!  Definitely out of season!

Date Night

Aaron and I rarely ever go out for date night, but every Friday night is our date night.  Usually we just watch a movie, but sometimes we go above and beyond.  This was just one such night.

I made a simple meal for the kids then sent them upstairs to watch a movie.  While they watched a movie Aaron and I had a fancy dinner, grilled tuna in a honey dijon marinade.  We also had a yummy side salad and sparkling cider.

By the time we were done making and eating dinner, the kid's movie was over.  We took a brief pause to get the kids into bed then date night resumed.
9 1/2 years later our relationship has grown, matured and changed (for the better,) but one thing remains the same...I married my best friend.

First Tooth

October 28th Ben lost his first tooth.  Here's a peek at that toothless grin.

I think it is funny how Ben's glasses magnify just one eye so that it looks bigger.
