Kid Posts

Sorry for the non kid posts. Hopefully soon I will have pictures from our camping trip to post.

Late Bloomer

This picture would have been better if I had not eaten ripe banana that was on the other side of the green banana, oh well.

Look What the Cat Dragged In

I know that not all of you out there have the same appreciation that I have for dead animals, but this was soooo cool. The cat killed a star nosed mole. I have never seen one before, but its finger-like tentacles we so fascinating. If you want to know more about them, here is a link.

Rainbows

The other day there was the most incredible rainbow. I have never seem one with colors so intense and long lasting. Also it was a complete semi-circle (which I know all rainbows are, but you could actually see the whole thing.) My camera could catch the whole thing and there are some telephone wires in the way, but the lower rainbow had two rings of r.o.y.g.b.i.v. and then there was an entire second rainbow.

Little Imp

I caught Jacob up to no good the other night. He is so proud of himself, the little imp!!!

Unnatural Encounter

Yesterday they sprayed herbicide on the field across the street. It was actually kind of beautiful the way it sprayed out. It was misty and ethereal. There were all these white balls in the field and I couldn't figure out what they were, but then I watched closely for awhile and learned they they were ball of foam. If you look closely you can see one about to fall off the end of the right hand arm of the sprayer.

Natural Encounter

Yesterday we had the porch door open and this hummingbird flew in. It was trying desperately to get out he closed windows. I was trying to guide it out with my hands. I get so close that I could feel the wind from his little wings on my hands. He finally landed and I got as close as I could to take a picture. Aaron took the window apart and he flew away. They are so amazingly small.

Not Playing Favorites

I know there are a lot of Jacob posts on here, but I promise I am not playing favorites!!! Ben and Sophiejust don't do anything cute anymore! (Ok that was totally a joke.) Ben and Sophie are so much more on the move that it is harder to catch them on camera. Also they do so much posing for the camera that it is hard to get a good picture of them.

That said...Jacob has learned to ham it up for the camera which is why he is smiling funny in one of these pictures.

The story is that we were outside Sunday after church, but Jacob was sleeping in the car. He woke up all disoriented and crying so we used the calming effect of nature to ease him into life. However that meant that he started playing outside in his Sunday clothes.

Jacob's face reminds me a little of Ben's in this March 2006 photo. Ben did it with a little more gusto though!!!

Big Beetle

I found this beetle outside yesterday. I am not sure what kind it is. If someone wants to enlighten me I would love it!!

Mother's Day Tea

Sophie's class did a Mother's Day Tea yesterday. It was very sweet. They had the room all decorated with doilies and flowers. Sophie had raspberry Zinger with LOTS of sugar and decided that she likes tea now. I had tangerine orange zinger, no sugar. It was very tasty. The class made cupcakes and decorated them to look like butterflies. They also made us some lovely hats. Sophie picked out a very elegant outfit for me, I was the only one dressed up, as was Sophie. They also wrote a tear jerker non-fiction story and read them to us. Here is Sophie's.

I love my Mom because she is special and helps me pick out my clothes.
I miss my Mom when I am at school.
I would give my Mom a vase of flowers because she is special.

I am looking forward to doing this again in two and five years from now!!!

Ok, I know we already had photos of the first T-ball practice, but this is the first game. They had uniforms and everything. I have to say there is nothing cuter than a bunch of 5-7 year olds in uniform.

T-ball at this level is VERY low key. If it takes them 17 hits to get the ball, so be it. Also they don't tag you out on the bases. So Sophie got two home runs!!!!

First T-Ball Game

Sunday Ben and Sophie both looked so dapper. I tried to capture Sophie's braid and bow in her hair because it was really sweet looking, but she hams it up so much that I couldn't really capture it just right.

Also I didn't get a picture of Jacob, but he, Ben and Aaron all had on matching ties. It was really cute!!

T-Ball Videos

First T-ball Practice

Sophie is playing T-ball this spring. Here are photos and videos of her first practice. The other little girl is Sophie's classmate Ella. There is one other 1st grade girl on the team.

Sunset

Sunset April 29th 2008. They were so much more beautiful in real life!!

The Right Way to Eat a Birthday Cake

My father eating his 56th birthday cake while awed children look on. I wonder if we will have a repeat in June for Sophie or Ben's birthday.

Sophie's Hair

Sophie did her own hair the 26th of April. It was quite unique. After our photo shoot, I made her take out most of them until she had only 6 "hairbops" in.

Lauren's Hair Cut

I got my hair cut the 23rd of April. It is an A-line to the front, stacked in the back. The photos aren't the best, but here I am!!!

Creepy

Sophie borrowed this doll from a friend and set it up on the hutch like it was reading a book. I came around the corner and Sophie was nowhere to be seen, but the doll was there. I found it a bit creepy. I am not sure the photo captures it, but it was creepy in real life.

Kooba Post

These photos are also from last week. I had withdrawn a large sum of money from the bank and was too lazy to get up off the couch to give it to Aaron. I handed it all to Jacob and told him, "Bring this to Daddy." There was too much for his little hands and he was dropping it all the way to Aaron. It was just funny to see such a little kid with so much money and so little comprehension as to its value.

Just in case you are all wondering, it wasn't that much money, and it is no longer in the house, so don't get any crazy ideas!!!

And the second photo dedicated to Kooba, aka, Jacob is actually a video. Once again he is wearing monstrous boots. He is saying Ball!!! Ball!!! Ball!!

Spring, or was it Summer?

Last week the weather was super nice, not like spring at all. It was more like summer, but with lots of mud.

We have these concrete bricks that we are going to use for the foundation for our greenhouse, and the kids turned them into a couch. I assume Aaron helped because they are too heavy for the kids. Sophie told me that Ben was pretending to play the violin, but on his lap. I thought maybe he was typing on a computer.

Then the video is just some fun that Sophie and Ben were having together. They really are best friends and I hope it stays that way for a very long time.
